The public health crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic affects every member of our community: students, families, volunteers, staff, and committed patrons. Even though we’ve had to close our building for now, we’d like to let you know how the Choir School is continuing to engage with our student choristers, supporting them academically and socially while making the best of this unexpected and unprecedented situation.

How are we supporting families?

  • We connect families to emergency community resources such as meals and utility assistance.
  • Volunteer tutors and mentors ensure our students have access to the academic support and career-focused guidance needed now and well after this crisis is over.
  • We have mobilized a virtual classroom equipped with the online tools to ensure the continued access to academic support and musical education for our choristers.
  • Email us at info@choirschoolofdelaware.org for more information on how you can participate.

Our Programs

We give children the skills and confidence to pursue and achieve their goals. Our year-round, out-of-school time program combines academic support, tutoring, mentoring, health, and lifestyle programs, with professional choral training. Out-of-school time is the general term used to describe both after-school hours and summer months — those critical times when students need the most guidance.

Virtual Summer Program

Our virtual summer program will meet daily from June 29 – July 31, 2020, with a focus on math, reading and music. Students will also engage in activities including mindfulness, movement, science and art. Learn more about the virtual summer program.

After School Program

Our after-school program will resume when the academic year begins. We prepare our choristers for active singing, creating a supportive culture of responsibility and character building that translates to our 100% high school graduation rate. Learn more about the program and schedule an audition.

Our Upcoming Performances

Our students missed more than 35% of in-person, direct instruction during the last school year. We are committed to addressing learning loss, and are doing that with our upcoming concert season We Tell the Story. This is a comprehensive reading and literacy initiative integrated with singing that will help equip our chorsiters with the decoding, phonetic and comprehension skills needed to thrive.

All programmed concerts will take place virtually or in-person following all Department of Public Health and CDC recommendations to ensure the safety of our patrons and choristers. Learn about the season and subscribe today!
