Musical Theater Training

At the Choir School of Delaware, we are proud to present an annual musical production which we prepare over the course of camp. Music from the show is taught and rehearsed in music class. The afternoons are filled with rehearsals for not only music, but also dance, scene work, and other related preparations for the musical.

This year’s show is The Addams Family. Past Choir School summer productions include Once on This Island (2022) and Sister Act (2021).

The final performances are open to the public. Tickets on sale now!

About the Show

The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Academics

A primary focus during summer camp is preventing the dreaded summer slide. Our academic courses help keep students’ skills fresh so that when they return to school in the fall, they pick back up right where they left off or better!

On Monday through Friday mornings, students in grades 6-9 have classes of ELA and Math along with other enrichment activities including music class, arts and crafts, science experiments, and other project based learning opportunities. Students in grades 10-12 spend time working on PSAT/SAT prep with a focus on the math and English skills needed to succeed on the test. Camp faculty also offer classes that focus on analysis of themes in the musical, self-esteem, and life skills.

We’ve partnered with Back to Basics Learning Dynamics, Inc. to provide PSAT/SAT preparation.
